Collabor8 is a partnership between eight local primary schools. The schools have worked together for over ten years on projects aimed at school improvement, raising standards and developing a community responsibility amongst our children, staff and families.
As part of the partnership, pupils have the opportunity to take part in challenging projects and events that involve children from all schools, staff work together with a wider community of innovative colleagues and Head teachers gain from the partnership style of discussion, debate and decision making centred around school improvement, effectiveness and challenge.
C8 Maths and Literacy Ambassadors days have helped develop pupils’ enthusiasm and skills and have been very successful. Collabor8’s annual Short Story Writing Competition has inspired children to develop their writing skills and appreciate the work of others. The annual school council conference takes place each spring and is a time for children from the school councils of all 8 schools to meet and share ideas around a particular theme.
Teachers and teaching assistants share good practice and develop new ideas by visiting colleagues who are on a central Good Practice Register. Co-ordinators from each school meet in subject groups to share ideas and plan future developments. Teachers find these networking opportunities very supportive and inspirational.
Collabor8 in-service training days take place when a wide range of outstanding providers offer workshops across the eight school locations which are attended by mixed groups of participants from the C8 schools. Lively debate takes place alongside much learning and stimulation. High impact training results from such a mixture and range of high quality providers.
The C8 schools support and challenge each other and the overall result is wide ranging school improvement across a large population of children within a professionally stimulating environment for all who are involved.
