Girls from C8 schools joined together at Worple Primary School on Tuesday 26th January 2016 for a fun maths session “Girls into maths.” The groups were set the task of having to plan a tea party for the 37 children and 10 adults there.
They were given a budget of £40 and had to shop around in order to find the best bargains! Within a group they had to create a list of things they would need for the tea party, food, napkins etc and then using I-Pads to compare different deals to ensure they were getting the most for their £40 budget.
The girls had to use a range of maths skills, including multiplying to ensure there was enough for everyone, subtracting to find the difference between amounts and of course adding to ensure they hadn’t gone over budget!
After half-term the girls will be returning to Worple to enjoy the tea-party! This is of course after having been to Asda to buy the things!
The girls will also be delivering the lesson within their school and presenting back to the other children on how the lesson went.
